Fabric Shopping

I spent the last week in Atlanta, Georgia so I decided that I should look for fabric while I was there. I went to a crafts store called Jo-Ann. It was amazing! It was so big and they had a giant selection of fabrics. I even liked the prints, My friend's mom had a 40% off coupon so I bought a few different fabrics and some navy thread. Thanks to the coupon I only paid $18. I was super happy and now I am very excited to get started on my second project.

I was just on their website and I found out that there is a store located just over the border in Niagara Falls, NY. That's not very far from me, so I'm even more excited because I now know of one store with good fabrics and I know how to get there. If any of you have been to the outlet mall in Niagara Falls, NY, Jo-Ann is located on the same road.

So, for this week I have to make the pattern and hopefully I can move through sewing it in less time and with fewer bumps. It's still a surprise what I'm making, so if you want to know what it is you'll have to stay tuned for my next post.

  1. I was literally JUST there on Saturday looking for silk flowers with my sister! It's a great store, but a bit overpriced.

  2. Fabric shopping is always a bit of a challenge I find. My Grandmother always brings me along for her fabric hunts and finding the right fabric at a good price is generally a mission. But, when you see the masterpieces after it makes it totally worth it.

Can't wait to see what you have planned next!

  3. While I don't find sewing to be particularly interesting I think you have done a great job keeping me interesting. It isn't your sewing or the hobby that is fascinating but rather the journey you have undertaken by starting a new hobby. The lessons you learn and how that impacts future choices are clearly shown in your writing and each post bleeds into the next. This is one of my favorite blogs to read because of how each entry reads like a diary or chapter in a book. Keep it up.

  4. My mom loves to quilt, and she shops at Jo-Anne Fabrics all the time. And I know exactly where the Niagara Falls, NY location is. It's not far at all, probably about half an hour from home (not including the time to cross the border).

Can't wait to see what you make with all the awesome fabrics!

    1. No, I wish. I'm just learning and clothing is unknown territory that seems very difficult, so I am going to improve my skill level and then maybe make some clothes.
